Washington DC Food Diary

06/12/2012

My Washington DC trip definitely brings a lot of great memories. It was a great dynamic with my Brizzy gurl and my Parisian side kick. In a weird way we went on a little burger craze and our hunt for these burgers created funny little incidents.
One night, Quentin and I decide to seize the night and we did a quick google search on what was on at night at Washington DC. The Lincoln center was having a free concert and we decided to go to that. That required us buying a metro ticket to that particular train station. I remember we put our ticket through the ticket gate and we were unable to pass through. We didn't know what to do since we had a legitimate ticket and there was a rush of locals waiting to get through. Quentin tells me to jump over the gate and I stumble through. Once we do we hear transit officers yell at us to stop there and they block us from exiting. They ask us what we think we are doing?

"I'm from Paris, she's from Sydney - we have no clue how to use your ticket machine." Which the officer replies with:
"So you jump over ticket gates in Paris?"
"Yeh I do."

Than I butt in

"We bought tickets but it wouldn't let us through?"

Which leaded into a few laughs as he took us to the ticket machine and we inserted our tickets that stated that we were 2 pennies shot from the right fare.

"Don't jump the gate next time...Or in Paris"

You know that trap you fall when you are given too many restaurant options on a busy food street? You begin to look at one or two but become indecisive which than leads to pressure to quickly choose one as your friends gets tired from walking around in circles. So after being a bit indecisive we decide to eat at a Japanese restaurant as its lunch special menu appeals to us. We get seated on the second level of the restaurant and our water is poured. We look at the menu in release that the lunch specials ended about half an hour ago. We make a executive decision to bail, we repeatedly apologize to the waitress and we walk out with a little shame. We get to the corner of the street and -

"Oh shit, I forgot your backpack in the restaurant!"

She has to awkwardly walk back in, to retrieve my bag. We instantaneously decided to just cross the road and eat out at Rocket Burgers.
